We worked basics in the morning, from about 8AM to Noon, had lunch, then a 1 hour mini-clinic, broke for the afternoon, and came back to train in the evening from 5:30 to 8:15. We followed up the evening workout with a coaches meeting, usually held on the pontoon boat out on the lake.

Various special events and highlights were:

  1. Tom Glielmi, assistant men's gymnastics coach at the University of Minnesota, held one of the best tumbling clinic's we've ever experienced. It lasted for an hour but was not only very instructional but a fun learning experience.
  2. The rope climbing course.
  3. The leap of death extravaganza, staged by the Lake Owen staff with Ryan Snead and Ron Hill enduring a rip or two for the audience.
  4. The eclectic group of skate boarders, inline skaters and bikers.
  5. Tubing and skiing on Lake Owen.
  6. Treating the Region 4 gymnasts to pizza after they scored 2 100's in a row for cabin cleanliness, and nearly winning the award for best cabin of the week
  7. Watching Phil Cahoy turn on the Northern Lights.
  8. Scot Zymball jumping into the lake at night to get the pontoon off a riffle of rocks.
